Casaubon, Bertrand
Bertrand Casaubon was born in Sainte-Martine, Quebec, in 1950. After graduating from Cégep Saint-Laurent and completing a Fine Arts degree at Université du Québec à Montréal, he spent several years exploring various media such as fabric painting, sculpture and film-making. In 1980 he began working with paper as a material for his artistic endeavours, and it became both his material and the medium for his creative process. For the past twenty years, he has earned his living as a professional artist. His painted paper-relief creations are made from wood-fibre-based paper that he makes himself, using a traditional technique. He creates imagery that combines psychology with an aesthetic based on balance, relief and colour, and his paintings, cards and bookmarks, which focusing on subject matter involving areas such as cultural roots and symbolism, are truly pleasing to the eye. |
