Chaudron, Bernard
Master craftsman Bernard Chaudron has been working with metals for more than forty years. He first made his mark in Quebec as a jeweller and, won over by the soft, warm beauty of pewter, he oriented his practice towards this metal in the 1970s. His works are created using an alloy of pewter (92%), antimony, and copper, pewter being too malleable to be used in its pure state. Along with his son Antoine, he creates plates, vases, pitchers, goblets, and oil lamps. These pieces are cold-worked, polished, and hammered or engraved. Bernard Chaudron has participated in more than 40 group and solo exhibitions in Canada, the United States, and France. His works are also featured in numerous collections, including those of the National Gallery in Ottawa, and of the Museum of the Fathers of Confederation in Halifax.
